CANTON, Ohio -- This morning it was announced that the Malone University athletics department has rejoined the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

"We are excited to welcome Malone University back into our NCCAA membership and look forward to their participation," said NCCAA Executive Director Dan Wood. "They have a long and storied history with this association that starts from the NCCAA's inception back in 1968. They have provided leadership at the regional and national level while winning multiple championships and will be an outstanding new member as we enter the 2021-22 year."

Established in 1968, the NCCAA is an association of Christ-centered collegiate institutions whose mission is to use athletic competition as an integral component of education, evangelism, and encouragement.

The association offers over 85 affiliated schools across the country with benefits such as: awarding and highlighting athletes for their outstanding performance, top 10 power rankings, and opportunities to compete in postseason tournaments on both regional and national levels.

Malone University will be entering as a Division I member in the Midwest Region. The Pioneers will participate in the following NCCAA sports: Baseball, Men's & Women's Basketball, Men's & Women's Cross Country, Men's & Women's Golf, Men's & Women's Soccer, Softball, Men's & Women's Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field, and Women's Volleyball

"The NCCAA's mission to serve, equip and impact the world are in harmony with Malone University's mission to Know Christ and Make Him Known," said MU Director of Athletics Tanya Hockman. "We view this opportunity as a partnership with the NCCAA, not merely a membership or added championship experience for our student athletes. We are excited to reunite with Christian universities across the country who passionately integrate faith and sport."

Malone University will continue to compete at the NCAA Division II championship level as a full member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
