Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this role is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Athletic Compliance Program. This position is will serve as the primary NCAA compliance officer with direct responsibility for coordinating and monitoring the athletics department's NCAA, conference, and institutional rules Athletic Compliance Program. Specific duties include: monitoring compliance systems, NCAA and CIAA rules education, rules interpretations, investigation of NCAA rules violations, and the administration of NCAA appeals, waivers and reports. Additional duties include administrating the National Letter of Intent program and NCAA Eligibility Center. This individual will also serve as departmental liaison to the Financial Aid, Registrar, and Admissions Departments. In addition, as the SWA, will assist the Athletics Director in educating individuals and acting as an advocate on issues important to students, coaches and staff. The position will also supervise the sports of bowling, softball and volleyball.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as a liaison to the admissions, financial aid, and registrar's offices
- Provide education and interpretation of NCAA rules, policies and regulations for students, coaches, athletic staff, and representatives of athletic interests
- Monitor and disseminate new NCAA legislation
- Assist with amateurism/agent oversight
- Assist with the preparation of NCAA squad lists, national letters of intent, and financial aid agreements
- Monitoring of academic, amateurism, eligibility, and financial aid rules of the NCAA, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), and Shaw University
- Monitor, audit, and review compliance forms, policies, and procedures
- Advises the Director of Athletics on major developments or challenges associated with the operation of the Athletic Compliance Program
- Serve as the athletic liaison to all community and civic organizations at all levels.
- Monitor official visits, ticket requests, phone logs, and contact/evaluation forms
- Assist with reporting of information required by the NCAA and CIAA
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions: Senior Woman Administrator
- Acts as a key decision-maker instrumentally involved with the athletics department
- Participates on senior management team
- Strategizes ways to support and manage gender equity and Title IX plans and issues
- Advocates issues important to female and male student-athletes, coaches and staff
- Educates individuals on issues concerning both men and women
- Serves as a role model and resource for students-athletes, coaches, administrators and others
- Leads student-athletes in successfully balancing academics and athletics
- Reviews Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Report and the Gender Equity Plan.
- Active member of key professional organizations
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Sports of Bowling, Softball and Volleyball
Minimum Job Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or a related discipline.
- A minimum three years related work experience in Athletic Compliance administration or a related field; OR equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide similar knowledge and skills.
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, community, and media.
- Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills.

Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and carrying. Specific vision abilities include the ability to use close vision. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
QualificationsEducation
Required
Bachelors or better.
Preferred
Masters or better.
ExperienceRequired
10 years:
Demonstrated extensive and successful experience in Athletics, higher education administration, and management.
