BREAKING: Ex-Nebraska women's basketball player sues NU Athletic Director, coaches over alleged sexual relationship with former assistant coach

Two years after she was removed from the roster, former Nebraska guard Ashley Scoggin has filed a lawsuit against her former head coach Amy Williams, a former assistant coach, University of Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts and NU Board of Regents.

Scoggin alleges in the lawsuit that former assistant coach Chuck Love had groomed and pursued a sexual relationship with her.

In the lawsuit, Love is accused of inviting Scoggin to work in his office, inviting her to drinks, messaging her over Snapchat and making sexual advances at her.

Love coached under head coach Amy Williams for a decade until he was suspended with pay in Feb. 2022. The same day, Scoggin was removed from the team's roster. Love resigned in May of the same year.

Scoggin said she feared she could not speak up given Williams' close relationship with Love. She also felt she lost playing time when she denied sexual encounters with Love.

Scoggin is seeking punitive damages and compensation for physical and mental suffering and the loss of a spot on the basketball team. She also claims a loss in housing, school credits and damage to her future career as a coach.

In the lawsuit, Scoggin claims that Williams cast her as a liar and allowed team members to interrogate and berate her. She also claims NU's Athletic Department did not inform her of her rights under Title IX, and that Alberts did not correct Williams' behavior.

The Huskers are currently 17-9 and fourth in the Big Ten standings with three regular season games remaining before the conference Tournament. According to ESPN's latest bracketology, Nebraska is projected to make it back to the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2021-2022 season.
