Join us on Thursday, April 13th as Ruben Echemendia, PhD discusses the process and science underlying the new SCAT6 Tools.


The SCAT6 is a standardized tool for evaluating a suspected sports concussion and can be used on individuals 13 years and older. The Adult SCAT6 is designed for use by medical professionals. SCAT6 includes a summary score including memory assessment, Glasgow Coma Scale examination, cervical spine assessment, symptom evaluation, cognitive screening, neurological screening, balance examination, and delayed recall. 


Dr. Echemendia is the Clinical Director of the Open University of Catalonia Concussion Care Clinic, a multidisciplinary concussion evaluation and management program at the University Orthopedic Center in State College, PA. 


Dr. Echemendia has had extensive clinical and research experience with sports-related concussions and has spoken internationally on issues related to traumatic brain injury in sports. He is currently in independent practice after having spent 18 years on the Clinical Psychology faculty of The Pennsylvania State University, where he was Director of the Psychological Clinic.
